Katharine Cruz

LCSW

I’m an attuned therapist who supports you as you reach your objectives

Katharine works with adolescents, young adults, adults, and families navigating the emotional and relational challenges that arise throughout different stages of life. Known for her warm, thoughtful presence and strong clinical judgment, she creates a therapeutic environment where patients feel comfortable speaking openly while developing a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships.

In therapy, Katharine works collaboratively with patients to explore the thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns that shape their experiences. Her style is engaged, reflective, and deeply attuned—balancing careful listening with thoughtful dialogue that helps patients gain clarity and perspective. Over time, this process allows individuals to better understand themselves, develop healthier ways of coping, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

Her work is grounded in psychodynamic and trauma-informed therapy, with particular attention to development and family systems. Katharine focuses on how early experiences and relational dynamics shape the way people understand themselves and relate to others. Alongside reflective work, she integrates practical tools—such as mindfulness, psychoeducation, and skills-based strategies—so that patients leave sessions with both insight and concrete support for navigating everyday challenges.

Katharine works with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, emotional regulation, and longstanding relational patterns. She also works closely with adolescents and families navigating the complex developmental stages of growing up, including the social, emotional, and relational transitions that often emerge during the middle school, high school, and college years.

In addition to her clinical work, Katharine serves as the Program Manager and the Director of the Adolescents & Families Fellowship at MDRN Talk. In this role, she oversees the clinical training and supervision of fellows specializing in work with adolescents and families, helping ensure that care across the program is thoughtful, developmentally informed, and held to a high clinical standard.

Katharine is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Florida. She earned her Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. In addition to her private practice work, she has collaborated with nonprofit organizations throughout New York City and internationally, and she currently teaches at the City University of New York. She also has specialized experience supporting au pairs as they adjust to new family environments, further deepening her insight into cross-cultural family dynamics and developmental transitions.
