Adolescent and Adult Therapist Who Helps You Find a Clear Path Forward

Kate works with adolescents, young adults, and families navigating the emotional and relational challenges that arise during periods of growth and transition. Known for her thoughtful presence and ability to connect easily with young people, she creates a supportive therapeutic environment where patients feel comfortable speaking openly while families feel guided and supported throughout the process.

Beginning therapy for a teenager is often an important step for families seeking support, clarity, and meaningful change. Kate believes therapy offers young people a thoughtful space to slow down, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of their emotions, relationships, and experiences. Her goal is to create a warm, steady environment where adolescents feel comfortable expressing themselves and where parents feel supported as collaborative partners in their teen’s care.

Kate’s work is grounded in psychodynamic and relational therapy, which focuses on understanding how early experiences, family dynamics, and emotional patterns shape a young person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. At the same time, she thoughtfully incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy and practical, skills-based strategies when appropriate. This allows the therapeutic work to be both reflective and practical—helping adolescents develop emotional insight while also building tools to navigate the challenges of school, friendships, family life, and growing independence.

Kate works with adolescents and families navigating anxiety, depression, school-related stress, social challenges, family transitions, self-esteem concerns, and the effects of difficult or overwhelming experiences. She believes that when young people feel genuinely understood and supported, they are better able to build resilience, develop confidence, and cultivate healthier relationships with themselves and others.

In addition to her work with adolescents and families, Kate also works with adults who are seeking a thoughtful space to better understand themselves and the patterns shaping their lives. Many adults come to therapy during periods of transition or when longstanding concerns—such as anxiety, relationship challenges, or questions of identity and self-esteem—begin to feel more pressing. Drawing from psychodynamic and relational approaches, Kate works collaboratively with patients to explore how past experiences and relational patterns may influence present-day thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Her goal is to help adults develop greater self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change in their personal and relational lives.

Kate graduated from Amherst College with a B.A. in Psychology, where she was also a student-athlete. She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University. She previously completed a fellowship at the Child Mind Institute in the Anxiety Disorders Center, where she worked with children, adolescents, and their families. For four years, Kate also worked at The Montessori Schools of Flatiron and SoHo, where she provided emotional, behavioral, and developmental support, collaborated closely with parents, and led daily group lessons designed to support social-emotional development and regulation.

Kate practices under the supervision of the MDRN Talk Clinical Directors and is committed to providing thoughtful, attentive care to the young people, adults, and families she works with.
