Gaelen Stejbach LCSW

I’m a mindful therapist who actively works with you to support your goals.

Deciding to participate in therapy can be a vulnerable feeling for a lot of people. It’s important to me to ensure that my patients feel comfortable and safe in discussing intimate details of what may be troubling them – whether it’s present day or years ago. One approach doesn’t work for everyone. I spend the time to really get to know all of my patients while still implementing an empathetic, trauma informed, and person-centered approach to clinical practice.

I am a psychodynamic therapist who will help you make connections to enhance your self-awareness. I collaborate with my patients to understand your thoughts and feelings in order to help you better manage what you are going through. Throughout our work, I will empower you so you can create healthy boundaries within your life in order to continue to grow and transform. I work with individuals who are experiencing: depression, anxiety, modern relationship and dating issues, workplace issues, job dissatisfaction, family communication, transitions in careers, conflictual interpersonal relationships, family communication, grief and loss, and general life transitions.

I obtained my Master of Social Work at New York University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana State University. In addition to my involvement in psychotherapy within private practice, I have extensive experience in clinical leadership positions within inpatient psychiatry, addiction, and community mental health. Within these settings, I have developed programs to enhance accessibility to quality mental health care in NYC. Aside from my professional experience, I am also a former Division I athlete which provides me with insight into challenges and mental health stressors in high performance situations.
